ImageIQ
ImageIQ’s sophisticated algorithms categorize pictures for visual similarity.
Think of the case where you’ve have two images, but one is a scaled down version of the other. ImageIQ will recognize them as being the similar. It’s also powerful enough to recognize the similarity of black and white versions of images compared to colour versions. ImageIQ also recognizes images that have been rotated in 90 degree increments.
After doing a search with ImageIQ, check your keywords for the ADD ImageIQ parent tag. Underneath that parent, you’ll see a set of tags.
Here are the tags:
- ImageIQ Target - The image you selected as being the basis of your search is tagged with this keyword.
- ImageIQ [filename] - Images similar to your target are tagged with the target's filename.
ImageIQ Processing Stages
There are two basic stages in which ImageIQ operates.
The first stages is for ImageIQ to analyse each of the images in your library. This occurs in the Load Library view when you select the Analyze Library button. While this is a time consuming process, it only needs to be performed once. Subsequent usage of ImageIQ will use previously computed data for the images.
The second stage is the actual searching of similar images. This occurs in the Detect Similars view when you select the Start Search button. Here ImageIQ uses the previously computed data to determine how similar photos are to one another. This is a fairly quick process and tens of thousands of images can be searched within minutes.
